Where is MIYAZAKI?

　 Miyazaki is located in south east of Kyusyu Island in Japan. The size is about 770000㎢ and the population is 1120000. Generally, hours of daylight and amount of rain are higher rank in Japan. Although it's hot and humid in summer, we have a lot of sunny day and mild climate in winter. So, many people come here to do sports camp or play golf every year. And, Miyazaki is tropical place but there is southernmost ski resort in Ebino city.

Miyazaki prefecture has started from 1873 in Meiji era. "Miya" means shrine and "zaki" means "in front of nobleman". There are a lot of shrine and myth, so if you come to here, you will get some good luck...

The history...

People have started to live in here from 50000 years ago. 1960s, Miyazaki prospered as a honeymoon. Tourism business had hung low after that, but these days, it's popular as a mecca of matchmaking, especially women. Moreover, it had a big change because Hideo Higashikokubaru, who is famous entertainer became a governor. Thanks to his effort, Miyazaki became popular again.   Miyazaki is the agricultural country of Japan's leading. So, there are a lot of fresh and delicious food! Specialty products are mango, kumquat, and miyazaki beef. Miyazaki beef became Wagyu champion twice in a row.

 They are symbol character dogs, Hi Mu Ka. Himuka is the old name of Miyazaki. They were born on November 11, 2011. They are wearing headdress which are related to Miyazaki.

　"Kagura" is a kind of festival that is done to pray for a good harvests the following year and appreciation for autumn crop. In the night Kagura to be held all night, sake and Nishime (traditional food) are served between Kagura, then, dancer and onlooker become one. Now, it can be seen every day as a tourism industry.

　In Kawaminami where is located north Miyazaki city, there are some big problems. One of them is pollution problem, for example water pollution, a bad smell, and soil pollution. These are from the industrial waste treatment facilities (産業廃棄物処理施設) that have installed in more than one in town. People are concerned about the health effects. Miyazaki is the livestock prefecture, so poultry manure a lot comes out. Pollution of groundwater was caused by chicken manure that has been abandoned in the soil a lot.
